23 days

until Christmas. That's it. 23.

 6 X 8 Canvas Board - WIP
It's funny. when I was a little girl I remember it taking
FOR-ever for Christmas to get here.
Now. I am going to blink and it will be over. Right!?
Luckily, I got an early start on shopping and I am making lots of gifts too.
(Well, my adorable son decided he needed to open one of his wrapped presents. That's what I get for leaving a 2 and a half year old alone with wrapped gifts! Funny part is - when I asked, "Who did this?"
He said...and I quote..."Daddy did it!" So funny.)

In between cleaning up wrapping paper and finding really good hiding places for presents, I did get some painting done. I am still loving the trees (see above),
and I also made a bunch of backgrounds. I used Christmas tissue and
wrapping paper in some of the backgrounds for texture. Love. There are so many yummy ones to choose from too!

Backgrounds to work on!

I hope you have had a great week.
Is it "all about Christmas" at your house now like mine?
(My daughter slept in reindeer antlers last night, nutcrackers are now action figures, and all my doors jingle.)
Oh, and if you have some good hiding places - let me know! :)

  1. No, we are still not quite there in the spirit... But this weekend will put the tree and all the goodies. What a pretty background!

  2. What an awesome post!!!! You got me grinning, remembering the old days when my two were little! Reindeer antlers to bed, ha! I too thought Christmas took forever to arrive when I was a child. Now my husband thinks it shouldn't come til January 25th so we can be ready, heehee. Happy weekend to you and the kiddies! Xo

  3. I love having lots of backgrounds to play with! How funny your son is! I like your trees! Patsy from

  4. Love your tree and your background!

How ironic and true that Christmas took forever to get here when we were young...and now there's hardly enough time to get ready! :)
    Great insight!

    Happy PPF!!

  5. I feel the same way... when I was little it took forever for Christmas to come and now I wish I could slow it all down! I love these backgrounds. Love the idea of using wrapping paper. There are so many amazing papers out there! :)

  6. Awesome post and you made me smile... loved the daddy did it comment, and am picturing a sweet little thing sleeping in Reindeer antlers.... I sooo want to buy some for my car this year but my 15yr old won't let me.... so sad when they grow up...xx

  7. Love your trees, and those backgrounds!! Wow,just looking at those makes me want to grab some paint and brushes, so fun!! We made some gingerbread cookies today with the pre-made dough and it was really fun. :) Best hiding place I know of is in a present with a tag to someone else! LOL, I just have to keep track of what package belongs to who! :)

  8. These are looking great! I have only JUST started to take everything out of storage. Usually a few nutcrackers each day until the tree goes up - then EVERYTHING comes out.

In suitcases is one hiding spot...

  9. So beautiful, I just love it!! Like you I felt that christmas took forever when I was little, now I think comes to fast and there's not enough time!!

  10. You make me excited about Xmas, great spirit! Love your work this week and gorgeous backgrounds.

  11. Hi Jen! I think I need to catch up with your blog. :) I've been busy over the past week.

I laughed when I read about your son's story. Smart kid! ahahahaha

  12. Your home sounds wonderful and full of Christmas magic. The art is beautiful. Happy PPF!

  13. I love the texture aspect snowflakes :)

  14. How beautiful is this!? I'm jealous of your cleverness! & I can totally relate to Christmas flying by so fast as an adult compared to when you're a child!

  15. This is great Jen! I love the tree too! Love to see a pic of your sleeping reindeer!

  16. oh, this tissue makes great a background!Love your pieces, always!

  17. i love your artistic style..your christmas pieces are so fun and full of whimsy!

  18. Dear Jen-I love all your Xmas trees and your Xmas spirit. Ha ha ha -your son is soooo cute! They learn pretty early on who to blame huh:) We are in the process of moving over no big Xmas. But we are going to make it special for Tara poo. xxx

  19. I am having a hard time getting in the spirit as it's still warm here where we are and Christmas is to be cold. haha! I think we'll be getting cold next week so that will be good as we are going to cut down our tree then.

    Your backgrounds are so pretty!

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by my blog. :o)

  20. Looks like you are full of the Christmas Spirit. I haven't quite got there yet. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

  21. I'm a big fan of background making myself, Jen. I love your tissue backgrounds. Also, Your trees are wonderful. I like to make cards with a tree stamp and have the colors fade back into the background. Fun.
I also recall how L-O-N-G it took for Christmas to arrive. No more.

  22. Ahhhh if it was 23 days on 3rd I dare not calculate now lol agree about it coming in the blink of an eye but no christmas yet in our house - probably because it just doesn't feel like christmas yet, my head is still in September lol can't wait to see what your background turns into :) x

  23. Your trees are so cute, makes me want to decorate any evergreen I pass. Love the new backgrounds.

  24. Hello Friend!!!
I LOVE what you are working on - and absolutely love the Christmas tissue as background - brilliant! And your canvas is so sweet and nostalgic!
AND SO TRUE - it is just flying by - but if you asked the 6-year-old, it is taking FOREVER!
Good luck with the hiding spaces, xoxo
